Blue Room

I grew up in Cedar Falls. In the past 9 years, I return to Cedar Falls about 3-5 times a year. I always visit the Blue Room as this was my late father‘s favorite bar. Everytime I go into the Blue Room, I can see my dad sitting at his regular booth and I remember fondly, the days of joining him for a drink when I came home for the summers. Rosie and Mike knew my dad and so the Blue Room holds a very special place in my heart. It is the last of the "old" Main Street Bars and is very different than any other restaurant/pub downtown. I‘m having a cup of coffee out of my Blue Room mug as I write this.

This is the last of of old "farmer bars" on main street CF, as my father puts it. My grandfather, my father and I have all drank at this place. It is a real blue collar joint, where the old Viking factory guys came to unwind. It has a group of regulars that have known each other for years, which can be intimidating to first timers. But if you come back a few times they are pretty decent folks. No frills here, just an old style dive bar with pool, foosball, and a juke box.

the best bar in Cedar Falls, hands down. Calm, not pretentious by any definition, and definitely not a college bro vibe like most of the CF establishments.
