Bourbon Street Restaurant & Voodoo Lounge

My husband and I had never had cajun before, and were delighted at the atmosphere, the catchy vibe of the place, the outstanding service (thank you Ryan!!!) and last, the phenominal food. Great experience for those of you with an open mind!

Don‘t care for the food. Midwestern-ised creole or what? I don‘t know, it‘s not like what I get in New Orleans. But it isn‘t bad. The drinks are fantastic and the atmosphere is great too.

The ambiance is top-notch, and the service very good. The food falls rather short of expectations. Cajun food should have a solid base of flavor under the heat - like too many places, Bourbon Street takes the shortcut. The steak was not worthy of its price. The crab cakes were acceptable, but the honey-mustard sauce was not a match - remoulade is the classic accompaniment for a reason. Their bar is very good, and their hurricanes are always excellent.

If the food matched the decor, a night out would be worth every penny. As it is, it‘s okay for some things and just conspicuous consumption in others.
